Obituary
LOWVILLE – Dr. Eulogio H. Rectra, Jr., 77,
passed away on Tuesday morning, December 15, 2015, at his residence on Clinton Street.
Dr. Rectra was born on June 17, 1938, in Manila, Philippines to the late Eulogio A. and Felicidad O. Hizon Rectra, Sr. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila before coming to the United States. He earned his internship at St. Mary's Hospital in Passiac, NJ.
During his residency at St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven, CT, he met and married Joan Adele Lukas on June 3, 1967, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Milford, CT, with Rev. Francis Mayock, officiating. Dr. Rectra also received a fellowship in cardiology from the Lahey Clinic in Boston, MA.
The couple permanently made their home in Lowville where Eulogio joined the staff at Lewis County General Hospital. Dr. Rectra retired in 2011, and was given Emeritus status with the LCGH Lewis County Medical Society. He was an Associate Fellow for the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Lahey Clinic Alumni Association.
Surviving Dr. Rectra are his wife, Joan and their children: Philip, James, Marybeth (Bruno) Cicirello, Teresa (Colin) Brooks, Johanna (Nick) Cogan and Grace; six grandchildren, Adela, Isaac, Mae, Ida, Charlotte and Behr; a brother, Rizalito H. Rectra and two sisters, Felicitas Padua and Myrna (Onor) Manzanilla.
Dr. Rectra was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be said on Monday, December 21, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Christopher Carrara, pastor officiating.
Burial will be in West Lowville Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
