LOWVILLE - Elmer W. Nafziger, 91, formerly of
James Street
, died early Thursday morning,
December 22, 2016
, at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility where he was a resident since December of 2014.
Mr. Nafziger was born on
October 3, 1925
, in the town of
Martinsburg
, the son of the late Joseph M. and Rose (Widrick) Nafziger. Elmer attended rural school on the
Lee Road
in the town of
Martinsburg
and
Lowville
Free
Academy
.
He married Gladys Mae Yousey on
September 12, 1950
, at
Croghan
Conservative
Mennonite
Church
with Rev. Lloyd Boshart officiating. Elmer and Gladys were the owners of Evergreen View Farm in Martinsburg. Gladys died in December of 2014.
Elmer was a member of
Lowville
Mennonite
Church
where he served as a trustee, usher, and car parker.
He is survived by his six children: Lillian and Robert Steria of Croghan; Harlan and Ann Nafziger of St. Augustine, FL; Sidney and Beth Nafziger of Lowville; Wesley and Kendra Nafziger of Elkhart, IN; Isabel and David Norris of Lowville; Cora and Michael Zehr of Lowville; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Arlene and Anthony Zehr of Croghan; Mary and Nelson Roes of Croghan; and Doris Roggie of Croghan.
He is predeceased by a granddaughter, Diane Nafziger.
A memorial service will be held at
10:30 A.M.
on
Monday, January 2, 2017

Lowville

Church
, with Rev. Keith Zehr and Rev. Evan Zehr officiating. There will be no calling hours. Spring burial will be in
