LOWVILLE - Edith M. Gibbs, 91, of Valley View Courts, died early Tuesday morning, May 10, 2011 at her home. Edith has resided at Valley View since 1993. Born in the town of Croghan on April 16, 1920 the daughter of the late Peter B. and Gertrude B. Millard Yousey, Edith attended Gooville rural school outside of Croghan. She married Eugene G. Gibbs on April 21, 1943 at Forest Presbyterian Church in Lyons Falls while Gene was serving in the U.S. Army. The couple made their home in Lyons Falls and later moved to Lowville. Mrs. Gibbs was a homemaker and Gene worked for NYS Highway Department and he died on November 13, 1988. She is survived by her four sisters, Phyllis Noftsier and Ruby J. Gibbs both of Lowville; Lucille Getman of Turin; Janet Lehman of P.A.; a brother, Peter A. Yousey of Boonville; nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Kenneth A. Yousey, and her sister Ruth LaVine. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00am at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Pastor Keith W. Hardy of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Lyons Falls. A calling hour will be from 10:00 to 11:00am prior to the service at the funeral home.
