Obituary

CROGHAN - Duane H. (Satch) Moshier, 81, died at his home on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, under the care of his family.

Duane was born in Lowville on April 17, 1944, the son of the late Harold A. and Mildred (Moser) Moshier. He graduated from Beaver River Central School, Class of 1962. Duane worked on the family farm and purchased it in 1974. After he sold the farm, he began carpentry work, working for his late brother-in-law, Edward Lyndaker, Loren Boliver, and Wendell Moser. Duane married Lisa A. Tuttle on August 28, 2009 at Salem Christian Fellowship Church.

Duane is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children, Tracy (Jon) Walseman, Castorland; Corey (Jerilyn) Moshier, Castorland; Erika (Bryant) Ellis, San Antonio, TX; and Jana Hoxie, Castorland; his grandchildren, Megan, Andrew, Derek, and Logan Walseman; Ethan, Natalie, Grant, Nolan, and Makenna Moshier; Tristan and Ayden Ellis; and Noah, Gia, Jade, and Myla Hoxie; his step-children and families, Kristi Woolsey, Erica Brown, and Kyle Fenton; his sister, Marilyn Lyndaker, his aunt Claire Moser, and his brother-in-law, James Zehr; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is predeceased by a son-in-law, Steven Hoxie, Jr, his sister, Joyce Zehr, his brother-in-law, Edward Lyndaker, and aunts and uncles, Harvey and Adah Gingerich, Erwin and Esther Moshier, and Donald and Arletha Moser.

Duane was a member of the Salem Christian Fellowship Church. He served in the Croghan Fire Department for 25 years often as an Ambulance Driver. He didn't mind if the paramedics told him to get to their destination quickly!

Duane loved playing softball in his younger years and the lifelong friendships he had with many he played with. He loved traveling, watching Syracuse Orange, Atlanta Braves, and NY Giants play. He enjoyed woodworking in his garage making Adirondack Chairs, often donating them to local benefits, along with several small tables and chairs and coat racks and wooden toys for the grandkids. He was a loving husband and father. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. His smile with that little glint in his eye will be forever missed.

The Moshier family would like to thank the caregivers, doctors, and Office of the Aging, for the excellent care their father received over the past several years. He truly appreciated all the cards, phone calls, and in-person visits.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Croghan Mennonite Church with Rev. Joseph Virkler, Pastor of the Salem Christian Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Memorials may be made in Duane's name to Croghan Fire Department.
