Obituary

LOWVILLE - A memorial service for Douglas J. Logan, 77, will be on Tuesday, July 31st at 11:00 A.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home, with Bruce W. Chapman retired minister officiating. Burial will be in Beaches Bridge Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, July 30th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the funeral home, where an Elks Service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Mr. Logan passed away on July 25th at his home in North Carolina. Douglas was born in Lowville on December 16, 1934, a son of the late John L. and Hilda Foster Logan and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1952. Doug served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged. On March 6, 1954, he married Nancy J. Carlston at the Lowville Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas J. Williams officiating. Doug was a very active member of the Lowville community where he was a member of the Lowville United Methodist Church; a lifetime member and Past Exalted Ruler of the BPOE Lodge #1605; a member of the Lion's Club and a member and past-president of the Jaycee's. He was also a Boy Scout Troop Leader for Troop #177 and past member of the Lowville Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling. He especially loved to be with his family. After retiring from the Lewis County Highway Department, Doug and Nancy moved to North Carolina. Surviving Doug are his wife Nancy; two sons and their wives, Bob and Nadine Logan of Lowville; Mark and Jenie Logan of Goodyear, AZ; his daughter Penny Wicks and companion James England of Stanley, NC; his brother Larry and Jannie Logan of Bixby, OK; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two step brothers, Milton and Elmer Lehman and two step sisters, Maitta Moshier and Cleo Clark. He is predeceased by his step father, Elmer Lehman; two sisters, Marlene Hirsch, Linda Marolf; step sisters, Ella Mae Lehman, Delores Zehr and step brothers, Larry and Gilbert Lehman.
