LOWVILLE - Dorothy W. DuFlo, 88, passed away on Friday, March 02, 2012, at Lewis County General Hospital. Born on May 10, 1923, in Lowville, the daughter of Alson D. and Viola Virkler Weller, Dorothy graduated from Lowville Free Academy in 1939, and from The House of Good Samaritan in 1942, as a registered nurse. She was employed as an RN at Lewis County General Hospital until her marriage to James L. DuFlo on November 27, 1945, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Msgr. Hogan officiating. Mr. and Mrs. DuFlo made their home in Lowville where Mr. DuFlo joined the Moore, Levis and Toussaint Agency as an insurance agent while Mrs. DuFlo raised their four children, David, Janet, Daniel and Patricia. James and Dorothy spent many summers in the 1000 Islands and winters in Naples, FL. Together they were members of the Valley Rounds Dance Club. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996, with a Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church followed by a family dinner. Dorothy was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and its St. Theresa's Guild. She enjoyed boating, bowling, knitting and especially loved to dance. Surviving Mrs. DuFlo are her husband, James and their children and spouses: David J. and Debra DuFlo, Rochester; Janet D. and John Easter, Hamilton, NJ; Daniel J. and Tracy DuFlo, Lowville and Patricia D. and Bruce Widrick, Watertown; five grandchildren: Nichol DuFlo, Samantha Force, Emily Easter, Sara Kirner and Brianna Ritz; great-granddaughter, Claire Kirner; her brother William Weller, Lowville and her sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Karl Anna, Camden. Her brother Henry Weller died in 1969. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Carrara officiating. Burial at the St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery in Croghan. Family and friends may call on Tuesday evening, March 6th from 5-7 p.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
