MARTINSBURG - Doris J. Morak, 65, died early Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Wynn Hospital in Utica.

Doris was born on October 30, 1958 in Lowville, the daughter of the late William H. and Irma (Schroeder) O'Brien. She graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School, the class of 1976. She married Kevin J. Morak on November 20, 1976 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, with Rev. Rupert P. Hajna, Pastor, officiating. Doris and Kevin celebrated their 47th anniversary on this past Monday. When Doris and Kevin were younger, they operated the Morak dairy farm at the family homestead. She retired to be a full time homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin; their four children, Charity (Chris) Thomas; Kevin John (Angela) Morak, Jr.; Nicole (Paul) King, and Sondra Morak; her four grandchildren, Andrew, Elora, Marissa and Gunnar; her favorite kid and sidekick, Charlie, her Shetland Collie; her siblings, Patrick (Patricia) O'Brien; Ingrid (Kenneth) Morak, and her sister-in-law, Dianne O'Brien; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is predeceased by her two brothers, Robert and Harold O'Brien.

Doris was a communicant of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, she enjoyed crocheting, reading,  hugs, and she loved spending time with her grand kids. She loved all of her adopted children, and they loved her. Everyone knew her as "Mom". Doris's final gift of love was being an organ and tissue donor for Connect Life.

A private memorial service will be held with Deacon Mr. Ronald Gingerich officiating. Spring burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be on Saturday, December 2nd, at 1:00pm at the Lewis County Marine Corps League, any food donations or covered dish to pass may be left off after 11:30am.
