GLENFIELD - Doris A. Gorczyca, 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born in Lowville on January 1, 1933, the only child of Augustus and Clara Johnson Bush and graduated from General Martin High School in Glenfield. For a short time Doris worked for Beaverite in Glenfield. On August 11, 1951, she was married to Joseph C. Gorczyca at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glenfield with Rev. Francis DesRosier officiating. She and her husband raised their family on the Glendale Road, faithfully attending mass each week. Her children fondly remember their annual visit to the Auriesville Shrine together with their parents. Joe, former Highway Superintendent for the Town of Martinsburg, died on August 12, 1988.

Doris was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glenfield where she was the head of music ministry. She always said how she loved music and faithfully played the organ and sang at church since the tender age of 14 years old. Doris retired a few years ago after 65 years of providing her music at church. She also enjoyed playing the organ and piano for her family and friends; spending time with her children and grandchildren and canning her garden produce, and enjoyed spending time with her loving cat "Sushi".

A funeral mass will be said on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glenfield with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Old Glendale Cemetery. There are no public calling hours.

Surviving Mrs. Gorczyca are her children: Jerry and Joann of Glenfield; Larry and Jackie of Glenfield; Mitchell and Loretta of Manlius; Timothy of Glenfield; Mary Anne and Mark Rennie of Lowville; Joseph E. and Lori of Prince Frederick, MD and Joanne and Chris Hobaica of Rochester, NY; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
