Obituary

WATSON - Donald W. Chambers, 79, died on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at his home.

Don was born on August 26, 1946 in Lowville the son of the late Glenn W. and Shirley M. (Edick) Chambers. He graduated from Indian River High School the Class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. Donald worked as a sheet metal worker and was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local #58 in Syracuse.

On February 3, 1983, he married Donna E. Shupp in Henrietta. Together they made their home in Watson. Donna predeceased him on October 2, 2006.

He is survived by his eight children, Amanda (Stephen) Lutz; Doug Chambers; Kelly Chambers; Kevin Chambers; Wade (Kim) Willis; Todd (Brittany) Chambers; Troy (Colleen) Chambers; and Seneca Chambers (William O'Keefe); his twelve grandchildren, Jacob, Davin, Ajia, Katie, Todd Jr., Simon, Charlee, Jane, Trinity, Canaan, Bryson, and Liam, several great-grandchildren; his siblings, Irene (Gerald) Orvis; Tricia Shimkus (Hal Marsh); Ralph E. (Candace) Chambers; Carol (Stephen) Pickert; Nancy Chambers; and Robert "Bob” Chambers; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved “fur menace,” Oreo.

Don is predeceased by his son, Donald W. Jr., his two brothers, Richard S. and Larry D. Chambers, his two brothers-in-law, Theodore "Ted" Smith and William Shimkus.

Don liked to shoot billiards and was a weekly pool league member in Watson, he was a very good carpenter, he was a well loved neighbor and a jack of all trades, and he was pass president of the West Lowville Cemetery committee.

A graveside service will be held at West Lowville Rural Cemetery on Saturday, June 13th at 10:30 A.M. with Ron Gingerich, officiating. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life at the American Legion starting at 12pm
