Dennis R. Lee, 74, of Lowville, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Twin Pond camp at Soft Maple while doing what he enjoyed most—preparing for the upcoming hunting season.
Dennis was born on July 1, 1951, in Lowville, the son of the late Richard E. Lee and Kathryn M. (Morrison) Lee. He graduated from Lowville Academy with the Class of 1969. Following graduation, Dennis served in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller, with assignments in Vietnam and Germany. After six years of service, he was honorably discharged.
On June 23, 1973, Dennis married Andrea J. Arvanites at the Lowville United Methodist Church. Together they made their home in Lowville.
For more than 50 years, Dennis was a well-known and respected local businessman as the owner of Lee’s Auto.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Andi, their two daughters and their families, Lyndsie K. (Kori) Tucker, and grandchildren, Makenna (Adam) Schaab and Aryanna Hartley; Laura A. (Jeremy) Gracey, and grandchildren, Anna Gracey and Wesley Gracey; his siblings, Donna (Gary) Jones, Bill (Becky) Kaufmann, Paula Kaufmann, and Tina (Mark) Tuttle, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dennis was predeceased by his brother, John F. Lee, and his stepfather, Paul Kaufmann.
Dennis enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and traveling, but above all he cherished time spent with his grandchildren. During retirement, he volunteered with the Wounded Warrior Project, the Turin Snowmobile Club, and trail maintenance and fundraising. He was a member of Twin Ponds Hunting Club, Turin Snowmobile Club, the Lowville American Legion Post #162, and was a life member of the Lowville B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1605.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 5th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sundquist Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 3:00p.m., at the Lowville Elks Lodge.
