Obituary

GLENFIELD - Dennis D. Koster, Jr., 87, passed away on February 22, 2015. He was born on July 31, 1927 in Turin the son of late Dennis and Grace Koster where he was raised on a dairy farm. He married Shirley Talmadge on September 30, 1946, she was the love of his life and he adored her. She passed away on October 24, 2014. Dennis enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received numerous medals and was very proud to have served and was very patriotic. He loved to talk about his service to our country and loved quoting history. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, watching the Yankee baseball games and woodworking. Dennis loved making gifts for his family. He worked as a manager of CryoDyne Corp., a welding supply company until he retired in December 1992 and enjoyed many years of retirement at their home in Glenfield. Dennis was very proud of his children and family and loved them very much. Surviving are his eight children, Denise (Frank) Andreotti, Pine Bush; Craig (Emilia) Koster, Hopewell Jct; Cathy (Jim) Coco, Matthews, N.C.; Pamela (Bill) Shaw, Carmel; Rhonda (Ken) O'Connor, Hurley; Karen (Scott) Markumas, Carmel; Amy (Karl) Forste, Saugerties; Jeffrey (Kimberly) Koster, Rhinebeck; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Dennis is predeceased by, his three sisters, Dorothy Kirk, Gladys Spann and Mildred DeLong; his brothers, Harold and Howard Koster and a half-brother, Richard Zehr. Calling hours for family and friends will be on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 3 to 6 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home in Lowville. A spring military burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.
