BEAVER FALLS - Daryl Jean Van Severen, 88, formerly of the Artz Road and Steeple View Courts, Croghan, died early Sunday morning, on March 15, 2015 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility where she was a resident since April of 2012. She was born on November 3, 1926 in Croghan the daughter of the late Louis V. and Minnie Catherin (Mitchell) Leonard. She married Arthur W. "Arkie" Van Severen on July 18, 1945 in Beaver Falls at the Evangelical United Brethren parsonage with Rev. Frank C. Hube, Pastor, officiating. The couple made their home on the Artz Road. Arthur "Arkie" died on March 25, 1999. Daryl was a volunteer for Lewis County General Hospital and Extended Care Facility caring for all of the plants and animals. Earlier she drove kindergarten kids in her own car to Beaver River school. Daryl loved to garden and care for her home and beloved cat. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Salem Christian Fellowship Church and Emmaus Bible Fellowship Church. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas A. and Bonnie Van Severen of Gray, Maine; her grandchildren, Craig VanSeveren and Nikkol Hawkes and her children, Gage and Rozlin Hawkes; her sister-in-law, Jackie DeLaFluer. A memorial service will be held this spring with Pastor Bruce Lyndaker and Pastor Paul Cornell, of Emmaus Bible Fellowship Church, Lowville, officiating. Burial will be in Gospel Hall Cemetery, Belfort. Daryl and Arkie will be placed side by side with their cat companion to rest forever together.
