Clorinda, known best to all of her friends and acquaintances as "Peg", was born in
Dolgeville
,
NY
on
July 3rd, 1932
to Joseph and Anna Pagliaro. 'Peg' was the last surviving Pagliaro sibling, having lost her brother, Rocco, in World War II and her sister, Theresa, to cancer almost 40 years ago. Peg grew up in Dolgeville, was very active in sports of any kind and graduated from
Dolgeville
Central
High School
in the top of her class and as a member of the National Honor Society in 1950. She was married to Robert V. Edick on
May 6th, 1951
at
St. Joseph
's Catholic Church in
Dolgeville
,
NY
, where they lived for several years and started their family.
"Peg' and Bob moved with their children, John, Paul and Annette Edick to
Lowville
,
NY
in 1966. For several years after arriving in Lowville, 'Peg' could be found behind the counter at Meda's Drug Store or at the reception desk of the Duflo Insurance Agency. Most of all, she could be seen at just about any and all sports events that
Lowville
Academy
participated in.
As a lover of all sports, from the time she arrived in Lowville until she relocated to
Rhode Island
to be close to family for health reasons, 'Peg' became something of an institution as a fan, friend, volunteer and mentor. She assisted in the revival of AAU swimming in Lowville in the 1970's. She was also a respected swimming and diving official in NY State high school swimming, officiating at numerous league championship events.
'Peg' was also a beloved member of the Congregation and Choir at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Her inability to continue as a parishioner, choir member and volunteer due to declining health was one of her most disheartening life changes. 'Peg' Edick loved being involved. She loved working with kids and volunteering as a teacher aide at LACS. 'Peg' contributed to the Lowville community in so many ways that it is hard to truly gauge the impact she had on the many lives she touched.
Along with her passion for sports "Peg" enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, reading and writing short stories. More than anything "Peg" loved her family and the title of "Grammy". Caring for her Grandchildren and attending their sporting, musical, theatrical and scholastic events provided tremendous joy.
'Peg' is survived by her son John Edick and wife Linda Gillette of Newport, RI, son Paul Edick and wife Linda Szyper of Chicago, IL, daughter Annette Darling of Middletown, RI, 5 grandchildren; Andrew, Alexa, Ryan, Lauren and August, and 6 great grandchildren; Kaitlin, Olivia, Kenyon, Henry, Griffin and Gretta.
