AUBURN - Charles W. Meeks, Jr., 71, died unexpectedly Monday morning, May 7, 2018 at Auburn Community Hospital .

Born on August 16, 1946 in Blossburg , PA to the late Charles and Ruby (Whitney) Meeks, he was in the first graduating class of South Lewis Central School in 1964. He joined the U.S. Navy and served as an Electronics Technician 3, Petty Officer on the USS La Salle. He married Carol M. Boshart on July 27, 1968 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph F. Luker, officiating. Charles worked as a field service engineer for a wide variety of technology companies throughout the United States , retiring as a technician from Cogent in California .

Surviving are his beloved wife, Carol, their children, Sonya and Bruce Dykeman of Lowville; Charles and LeeAnn Meeks of Palm Desert, CA; Tyna Meeks and Michael Siptrott of Evans Mills; Tonya and Matthew Coleman of Skaneateles; Clay and Deana Meeks of Puyallup, WA; his eleven grandchildren: Connor, Alyssa, Alex, Samantha, Anna, Devin, Zachary, Lilly, Sam, Brandon, and Bailey; his brother Rolland Meeks, his sisters, Janice and Bob Coffman; Charlene and Jack Lomeo; Judy Horan; Gail and Frank Woods; Deb and Charles Gaffney; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his infant daughter, Colleen.

Charles was an avid reader and loved all kinds of new technology and electronic gadgets.  He enjoyed exercise, whether it was at the gym or outdoors, and spent hours buying, collecting, fixing and selling model trains. However, the time that he spent with his wife and his family was his favorite pastime.

Family and friends may call on Friday, May 11th from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Sundquist Funeral Home, Lowville. Per Charles requests, he is to be cremated and was a donor to Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation.
