LOWVILLE - Charles "Charlie" Gibbs, 71, of Summit Avenue, died early Thursday morning, February 23, 2017 at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare in Utica.
Mr. Gibbs was born on October 9, 1945 in Lowville the son of the late Dayton Gilbert and Gladys Irene (Alm) Gibbs . Charlie worked at Lewis County Industries as a machine operator. Upon retirement he started going to Four Seasons Day Program in Turin.
Charlie is survived by his three sisters, Freda A. Castle of Sodus; Vineta H. (Jim) Wilton of Brownville; Rita E. (Grant) Delong of Mexico; his two brothers, Hilton E. of Port Leyden; Dayton L. (Sharon) of Carthage; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He loved spending time with his friends, Mike, Kevin, Brian, Preston and especially Loretta Alexander. Charlie enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, arts and crafts, and family gatherings.
Charles is predeceased by his sister, Georgia Kline and his brother, Clarence A. Gibbs.
He could always be seen in Lowville walking to work or to church on Sundays. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Lowville Baptist Church where he enjoyed fellowship each weekend.
His funeral service will be on Sunday, February 26th at 1:00 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in Turin Cemetery.
Calling hours for family and friends will be on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. until the service.
