LOWVILLE - Brenda A. Guignard McCue Buholtz, 58, of South State Street, passed away on Friday evening at Lewis County General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 6, 1953, in Lowville, a daughter of Julius A. and Joan Taylor Guignard, Brenda graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School. She then attended Albany College of Pharmacy where she received her pharmaceutical degree. Brenda began serving the community as a pharmacist at Lewis County General Hospital; owned and operated McCue's Village Pharmacy in Lowville; was a pharmacist at Kinney Drugs and was once again most recently employed at Lewis County General Hospital. On November 13, 1976, Brenda was married to Thomas J. McCue at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lowville. Tom died in an automobile accident on October 9, 1992. At the time of her death, Brenda was the wife of Robert J. Buholtz. They were married on December 2, 2000. Brenda was a communicant of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan and in her spare time she enjoyed horses, reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bob of Lowville and Stillwater and her parents, Julius and Joan Guignard of Watson, Brenda is survived by her children Melvin T. McCue and wife Renee and their children, Thomas and Eli; daughter, Emily L. Kurtz McCue and her children, Felix and Stella, all of Lowville; her siblings, Renee and Don Dino of Williamsburg, VA; Thomas Guignard and wife, Maria; Jeffrey Guignard and Marlene Widrick; Susan and Jerry Burr all of Lowville; Gregory and Kim Guignard of Chittenango and Mary Lou Guignard of Lowville; her father-in-law, Charles H. Kopp, Jr. and Raymond and Carolee Buholtz and Kevin and Victoria Buholtz; five step grandchildren: Dylan, Jessica, Ashley, Makayla and Kayden and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins. Growing up working with her family in the florist industry, one could often find Brenda picking blossoms from the petunias and grew to love and appreciate the beauty of flowers. You are welcome to express your sympathy through flowers. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Lowville Rural Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Lowville Elks Club. Calling hours will be on Monday afternoon and evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
