LOWVILLE - Dorothy E. "Bonnie" Virkler, 72, died Monday, September 21, 2015 at Lewis County General Hospital with her family at her side. Bonnie was born May 21, 1943, in Stamford, Ct, the daughter of the late Judson and Elnora (Muus) Gallup. She moved to Lowville with her family and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1961. She attended Potsdam College. On October 24, 1964, she was married to Larry J. Virkler at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Howard Gosier officiating. Larry died on October 24, 2004. Bonnie worked for St. Lawrence National Bank and Widrick Implement and retired from V.S. Virkler & Son Inc. as Secretary/Treasurer. She especially enjoyed traveling in her retirement. Bonnie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her three sons: Gregory "Scott" and Denise of Clifton Park; Steven E. and Beth of Apalachin; Joseph L. and Tia of Lowville; her grandchildren, Claire, Mitchell, Rusty, Shelby, Avery, Alex, Katey, Sophia and Charlie; brother-in-law, Richard "Chip" and Sue Virkler; sister-in-law, Nancy Padden; several nieces and nephews and her dog "Gizmo". She is predeceased by her brother, Arthur J. "Buddy" Gallup and two sisters, Virginia "Dinga" Kennedy and Phyllis Zwart. A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Sundquist Funeral Home. Internment will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery. There are no calling hours, Bonnie's family would like to invite everyone to Pine Tree for a luncheon on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 to share memories.
