LOWVILLE - Beverly Reed Baxter, 84, formerly of Bostwick Street, died early Tuesday morning, March 22, 2011, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility. Born on August 27, 1926, in Lowville, a daughter of the late Fred and Edith Peebles Reed, Beverly graduated from Lowville Academy and attended college for two years. She retired from the Lewis County Department of Social Services in 1993. Her marriage to Lyle Perly Baxter ended in divorce. Beverly was a member of the Lewis County Memorial Post # 6912 VFW Auxiliary where she often volunteered and was also dedicated volunteer for many other community organizations including the hospital gift shop, the county fair, food pantry and at local blood drives. Funeral services for Beverly will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired minister, officiating. Spring burial will be in the Lowville Rural Cemetery. Her calling hours at the funeral home are from 5-7 p.m. on Friday evening. Surviving Beverly is her daughter, Susan Reed Lewis and husband, Michael; sons, Stephen Lyle Baxter and wife, Diane of Frakes, KY and Michael John Baxter and wife, Carrie of Webster; granddaughter, Erin Baxter of Washington, DC and grandson, Jason and Sara Baxter of Dallas, TX; grandson, Matthew and Jessica Baxter of Portland, ME; grandson James and Jennifer Baxter of Portland, OR; grandson, Andrew Baxter of Rochester; great grandson Silas Baxter; nieces, Kathryn and Ed Gillett of Constableville; niece, Charlene Ferguson of Rochester and nephew, Gale Ferguson of Gouverneur. Beverly is predeceased by her brother, James Reed and sister, Dorothy Ferguson and former husband, Lyle Baxter.
