LOWVILLE - Avis M. Marcellus, 90, of Brookside Circle , died on Sunday afternoon, February 18, 2018 at the home of her daughter under the care of her family and Hospice of Central New York.

Mrs. Marcellus was born August 24, 1927 in Greig, the daughter of the late Bernard and Mabel (Meauer) Holland , Sr., where she graduated from General Martin High School . She married Donald Douglas Marcellus on October 4, 1947 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lowville, with Rev. Walter L. Bennett, officiating.  Avis worked for the Board of Elections in Lewis County as the Democrat Commissioner. Avis and Donald made their home on the Number Four Road in the town of Watson . Donald died on Saturday, February 17, 1996 .

She is survived by her two daughters, Bethany Glenn of Brewerton; and Marsha Markham of Williams Bay, WI;  her daughter-in-law, Renee Marcellus of Watson; her six grandchildren, Christopher Glenn; David (Kristy) Glenn; Adrienne (Jack) Clark; Adam (Jenna) Marcellus; Rachel (Stacey) Markham; Amanda Markham; her several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Avis is predeceased by her son, John A. Marcellus, her two brothers, Bernard, Jr., and Harold and her sister, Frederica.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild, Order of the Eastern Star, and Lewis County General Hospital Auxiliary, and The Gift Shop. Avis was an avid golfer at Brantingham Golf Club.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 21st at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church, with Rev. Ed J. Murphy, Rector, officiating.  Spring burial will be in Beaches Bridge Cemetery .

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 20th 4 to 7:00 PM at Sundquist Funeral Home.
