CROGHAN - Arthur F. Turck, 81, of George Street, died on Thursday evening, March 10, 2011 at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility with his family at his side. Art had been a resident since December of 2010. Born in the village of Croghan on October 19, 1929, the son of the late Chester C. and Pearl L. Lomber Turck, Art attended Fr. Leo Memorial School. He went to Our Lady of Lakes Seminary in Syracuse, Indiana, where he became a member of the Holy Cross Order as a brother at Syracuse, Indiana. Art moved back to Croghan and soon moved to Florida where he worked as a custodian. He then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and lived there for many years also working as a custodian. For health reasons, he moved back to the North Country and lived with his mother. He moved to Steepleview a few years ago. In his spare time, Art enjoyed refinishing furniture. He is survived by his three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Richard of Lowville, formerly of Beaver Falls; James and Tammy of Carthage; Ralph and Elaine of Croghan; Evelyn Turck, widow of Donald Turck of Belfort and Margaret Turck, widow of Edward Turck of Croghan; his two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Gerald Ritz and Rose Marie Bruce all of Croghan and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law; Bernard and Nellie Turck, Edward Turck, Robert and Joyce Turck; Donald Turck; Richard Turck's wife, Emma; Rosie's husband, Robert Bruce and an infant sister, Teresa. Arthur was a communicant of St. Stephen's Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be said on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Daniel Chapin officiating. Spring burial will be in the St. Stephen's Cemetery. Per Mr. Turck's wishes, his body will be cremated and there will be no calling hours Memorials in his name may be made to the Croghan Fire Department.
