TALCOTTVILLE - Arlene F. Roch, 93, formerly of State Route 12D, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville. Her funeral service will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 15, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home, 7676 N. State Street, Lowville, NY with a Minister of the Apostolic Christian Church officiating and she will be buried in the church cemetery in Croghan. Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday evening at the Sundquist Funeral Home in Lowville. Memorials in Mrs. Roch's name may be made to the Boonville Ambulance, P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309. Born in Carthage, NY on July 29, 1917, a daughter of Hiram H. and Sarah K. Virkler Farney, Mrs. Roch grew up in the Croghan area where she attended school. On September 10, 1950, she was married to Elmer P. Roch in the Rectory of St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. She and her husband owned and operated the Roch's General Store in Talcottville for over 33 years before retiring in 1983. Mr. Roch died in 1991. Mrs. Roch was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Her many interests included crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and working in her garden. Surviving Mrs. Roch are her daughter and son-in-law, Marcia L. and David Reese of Talcottville; her brother, Harlan C. Farney of Watson and several nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her brother, Carleton N. Farney.
