UTICA - Arlene Margaret Parry, 100, formerly of Utica , passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at The Ridgewood Center in Bedford , NH , where she was residing to be close to her family.
Mrs. Parry was born April 11, 1916 in Utica ; the daughter of the late John and Matilda F. (Wilburt) Urtz. Arlene graduated from St. Frances DeSales High School in 1934. She was united in marriage with Erwin J. Parry on June 15, 1940 at St. Francis DeSales Church. The couple made their home in Utica where she worked at the former Boston Store, and later became a school crossing guard for the City of Utica . Mr. Parry died on July 28, 1986 .
Mrs. Parry was a communicant and a member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Frances DeSales Church. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, shopping, scrapbooking and crossword puzzles. She was also an avid reader. She found her most joy in spending time with her family.
She is survived by her three daughters, Suzanne F. (David) Pauli of Mesa, AZ; Gail A. Parry of Merrimack, NH; Martha J. (Gregory) Burt of Chesapeake, VA; her son-in-law, Richard A. LaBuz, Sr. of Brantingham, NY; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Arlene is predeceased by her daughter, Ellen M. LaBuz, her two infant sons, nine brothers and sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was an amazing part of her family's life. Words cannot express how much she will be missed and how blessed we were to have her.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff of The Ridgewood Center for the loving and compassionate care they showed to Arlene during her stay there, especially over the past week.
Her calling hours will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 5 to 8:00 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home in Lowville.
A funeral mass will be said on Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glenfield with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Brantingham Cemetery .
