DENMARK - Angela A. Robbins, 57, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, February 29th, at the home of her sister Renee (Bobby) Cobb in New Bremen, surrounded by her loving family. "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples" said Mother Theresa, and Angela cast many a stone.

She was born in Watertown on November 2, 1966 the daughter of the late Douglas F. and Veronica R. (Sweredoski) Robbins. Angela graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School as a member of the class of 1984. She then attended and graduated from Herkimer Community College followed by Ithaca College.

Angela began her teaching career at South Lewis Central School, where she coached softball and volleyball. She then taught for the next 32 years as a health teacher in the Carthage Central School district. She retired from there in 2022 after a long career not only in the classroom, but on the court as the Head Varsity Volleyball coach. She coached 32 teams, had over 433 wins, 13 Frontier League Championships (10 of which were in a row), 3 Section III titles, and 3 straight undefeated seasons. The players on the court wouldn't remember her only for the wins, they would remember her for the words, her affirmation cards, and her Bazooka Bubble gum tradition before each game. They built a family of players connected to each other long after their high school careers, with multiple generations getting to play for her, just as their parents once did. In 2018 she was a New York State Women of Distinction Honoree. She served many years as the Vice President of the NYSUT Teachers Union.

Family was everything to Angela. Surviving her are her siblings, Frank and his wife Lorrie of Lowville, David and his wife Samantha of Horseheads, Jeff and his wife Michele of Liverpool, Bruce Robbins of Dobbs Ferry, Renee (Robbins) Cobb and her husband Bobby of New Bremen; her nieces and nephews, Cassie Robbins-Forbus, Nick Robbins, Tracy Bowers, Matthew Robbins, Mariah Robbins, Madalyn Robbins, Gregory Robbins, Marissa Robbins, Stephen Robbins, Ashely Cobb, Nathan Cobb, Hanna Sellick, and Katelyn Sellick; and her great niecesand nephews, Zoe Bowers, Ryan Robbins, Adaleia Forbus, Mila Robbins, Reese Robbins, and Camden Robbins; her aunts, Carolyn (John) Knollman, and Mary Sweredoski; and many cousins and close friends.

Angela was a lifetime athlete. She played league softball and volleyball in Watertown, as well as a golfing league at different times. Once, at Carlowden, she had a hole-in- one, on the 6th hole, with a seven iron! She was an outdoor enthusiast, from gardening and feeding the birds, to seeing and exploring as many waterfalls across NYS with her friends and family as she could. She attended First Mennonite Church in New Bremen, and was a communicant of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan.

Calling hours for family and friends will be from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at the Sundquist Funeral Home in Lowville on Tuesday March 5th, 2024. A funeral Mass will be said at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan with Rev. Donald Manfred, and Pastor Ed Steckly, on Wednesday March 6th, 2024 at 10:30am. A burial service will occur in the late spring in Lowville Rural Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Lewis County Hospice for all their help during this difficult time. Family and friends will be gathering after the service at St. Stephens for a meal and refreshments. If you wish to make a food donation, please call St. Stephen's at (315) 346-6958 to leave a message to make arrangements.
