LOWVILLE - Amelia M. Hill, 96, died Tuesday morning,
December 27, 2016
, at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility where she had resided since September.
Mrs. Hill was born
August 23, 1920
, in Croghan, the daughter of the late William J. and Flora N. (Zehr) Zehr. Amelia worked at Climax Mfg. for a few years in Castorland prior to her marriage to Bernard Alton Hill on
April 26, 1947
at
Carthage
Methodist
Church
, parsonage, with Rev. Harold H. Barnard, officiating. Together the couple owned and operated a dairy farm on the
Boshart Road
where Amelia enjoyed tending her rather large garden, canning, knitting and for a time crocheting. She and her husband retired in 1978, when they moved to
East State Street
in Lowville. For 24 winters, they spent time in
Clermont
,
FL.
Bernard died on
August 16, 2002
.
Amelia is survived by her two children, Douglas B. and Martha Hill of Cicero and her daughter, Carol A. Valentine and husband Ronald of Oneonta; her sister, Delia Martin of Croghan; her four grandchildren: Kimberly Valentine and Danny Bush, Kevin Valentine, Elisabeth Coles and Sarah Hill and three great grandchildren, Meghan Coles, Kasey Valentine and Kathleen Valentine.
Amelia is predeceased by six sisters, including her triplet sisters, Dora Kloster, Dorothy Kloster and Doris Hill, Pearl Hayes, Florence Hellinger and Mae Farney and four brothers, Leon, Arthur, Roy and Ira Zehr.

at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at the
Apostolic
Christian
Cemetery
in Croghan. Family and friends may call at the funeral home
Saturday one hour prior to the funeral from
11:00
AM to
12:00 NOON.
